Reviews

As a writer, reviews are integral to what we do. Some are good, some are bad, some are in between. Does that mean we don't appreciate them all? No. We do. So, as a writer who has received reviews of all types, I thank you for your time and your feedback. No one's writing will please everyone, but that is what makes the world go round.

As a voracious reader, I approach the way I review differently. If I don't like the book, I am honest, however, I do my very best to also be polite. Recently, I received a few reviews that were deemed to be not so polite. I did not know about them until an ARC reader saw them and emailed me. Did it hurt my feelings? Yes, because what was said was unfair because I didn't write the way this person wanted the story to go. (In this case, the reader had a problem with one of the characters being gay and asked me to rewrite a version where he was straight). And did it happen again? Yes, however this time, I saw it as what it was. A person's opinion. That's what reviews are. Opinions. Some will be helpful. Some won't, but they are all opportunities to grow and get better at your craft.

Reviews are IMPORTANT, no matter if they are a 1 star or a 5 star. Every voice counts because it's someone's experience with your work. It's a chance to see your work through another person's perspective. It's a chance, like I've previously said, to grow as an author. So, as a writer, I THANK YOU ALL for your feedback, no matter what. I appreciate the time that you've taken out of your lives to read my work and to share what you thought of it. There is no higher compliment than someone reading the words that you've written and allowing you as a writer to share a piece of yourself with them.

-Much Love
